Wood is turned on a lathe, layered with coloured lac, then scratched back by hand so the colours beneath show through. That is naqshi.

Every piece can be engraved by the ustad's hand — names, nikkah dates, ayats, dedications. Our naqshi artisans work with English, Urdu, and Arabic script on the khraad.
