Question 1

What is naqshi?

Accepted Answer

Naqshi is a hand-scratched lacquer craft. Rosewood is turned on a lathe, layered in coloured lac (red, then yellow, then green), and the design is scratched back by hand so the underlying colours show as rainbow lines. It is roughly a three-hundred-year-old tradition.

Question 2

Where is it made?

Accepted Answer

Every piece is made in Sillanwali, a town in the Sargodha district of Punjab, Pakistan. The craft was brought here at Partition in 1947 and Sillanwali is now the centre of Pakistani lacquer woodcraft.

Question 3

How do I order?

Accepted Answer

Choose a piece from the collections, add it to your cart and check out with your name, mobile number and delivery address. Nothing is paid online and no account is needed. We call within 24 hours to confirm the order, then it is delivered and you pay the courier in cash.

Question 4

How does payment work?

Accepted Answer

Cash on delivery. You pay nothing when you order — you pay the courier in cash when your parcel arrives. Cash on delivery is available on every piece in the shop, anywhere in Pakistan.

Question 5

Are the pieces in stock?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every piece in the collections is ready to ship from the workshop in Sillanwali, so your order is dispatched after the confirmation call rather than made from scratch.

Question 6

How long does delivery take?

Accepted Answer

Your order is delivered by Leopards within 3 to 4 days anywhere in Pakistan, after we call to confirm it.

Question 7

How much is delivery?

Accepted Answer

One standard shipping charge by Leopards is added to your order total, set by the size of the parcel: PKR 250 for small pieces such as boxes, coasters, plates and kitchen tools; PKR 400 for medium pieces such as lamps, clocks, vases and serving pieces; and PKR 700 for tables. An order pays the rate of its largest piece, once, and the full total is shown in your cart before you order. The Wooden Foot Massager ships free.

Question 8

Do you deliver outside Pakistan?

Accepted Answer

The online shop delivers inside Pakistan only, because cash on delivery is not available across borders. If you are in the UK, United States, Australia, the Gulf or anywhere else, contact the workshop through the contact page, WhatsApp or email and we will arrange the order, the shipping to your country and the payment with you directly.

Question 9

Will my piece look exactly like the photo?

Accepted Answer

It will be the same piece, but not a pixel-perfect match. The wood grain, the depth of the carving and the exact tone of the polish vary between pieces because each one is worked by hand. That variation is normal and is noted on every product page. If a piece arrives damaged or is clearly not what you ordered, that is covered — see the damage question below.

Question 10

What if my piece arrives damaged?

Accepted Answer

Record a clear unboxing video when your parcel arrives. If the piece is damaged or defective, contact us within 7 days with the video and photos and we will repair, replace, or refund it. The unboxing video is required to process a damage claim.

Question 11

Can I return a piece if I change my mind?

Accepted Answer

Yes, within 7 days of delivery, if the piece is unused and in its original packaging. The return delivery cost for a change of mind is yours, and we refund the price of the piece once it is received and checked. Custom orders made to your design or engraved for you cannot be returned for change of mind, but are covered if they arrive damaged or defective.

Question 12

Can I get a piece engraved or made to a custom size?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but custom work is separate from the shop. Pieces in the collections are sold ready to ship as shown. For engraving, a different size or your own design, use the Custom Orders page and the workshop will quote it for you.

Question 13

Do you take corporate or bulk orders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Jewellery boxes, tissue boxes, serving trays and Quran boxes are the usual choices for corporate Eid gifting, and a logo can be engraved. Use the Bulk Orders page or message us with your quantity and the date you need them, and we'll confirm a price and a timeline — a large run needs more notice than a single piece.

Question 14

How do I care for lac-finished wood?

Accepted Answer

Keep the piece out of direct sunlight and away from water and heat. Dust it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use polish, chemical cleaners, or a damp cloth on the lac surface. Treated this way, a naqshi piece lasts for generations.

Question 15

Is each piece unique?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every piece is turned, lacquered, and scratched by hand, so no two are identical. Small variations in the lac lines and tone are the mark of the craft, not a flaw.

Question 16

How do I track my order?

Accepted Answer

Use the Track Order page and enter your order ID (the SW-… number from your confirmation). You can also call or WhatsApp us with your order ID for courier updates.
