About this piece
Wooden Spoon Set — six serving spoons. Made by hand from sheesham (rosewood) and plainly polished, in the Sillanwali Handicrafts workshop in Sillanwali, Sargodha, Punjab, Pakistan. It costs PKR 1,650. It is ready to ship and delivered within 3 to 4 days anywhere in Pakistan, paid in cash on delivery.
Six wooden serving spoons, each cut and shaped by hand from solid sheesham. They are shaped for serving rather than for cooking, and the difference is real: the bowls are wider and shallower than a cooking spoon so rice and salan come off cleanly instead of packing in, and the handles are left long enough to reach the bottom of a deep degchi at the table. Sanded rather than lacquered, so there is no finish to flake into food and no coating to go cloudy. Wood will not scratch a serving dish and does not conduct heat, so a spoon left sitting in a hot dish stays cool to pick up. Use them for serving rather than for stirring in a hot pan for long stretches, which is what dries and cracks any wooden spoon over time. Made in Sillanwali, Sargodha, and shaped individually, so grain and colour vary across the six. Wash by hand in warm water and dry them straight away rather than leaving them to soak, and rub in a little food-safe oil now and then. Never put them in a dishwasher.
Every piece is made by hand, so the wood grain, carving and colour vary a little from the photo. That variation is normal and is what makes each one its own.

Care
- Wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not soak, do not put in a dishwasher, and do not leave standing in water.
- Keep the piece out of direct sunlight and standing heat so the wood does not dry or fade.
- A light food-safe mineral oil once or twice a year keeps plain serving pieces from drying out.
- Small variations in grain, carving depth and colour are normal — each piece is finished by hand in Sillanwali.
