Wooden Tea Coaster Set with Brass Inlay — 6 Pieces: six sheesham coasters with brass stars, in a turned holder. Made by hand from sheesham (rosewood) and brass and inlaid with brass, in the Sillanwali Handicrafts workshop in Sillanwali, Sargodha, Punjab, Pakistan. It measures about 4 in coasters in a 5 in holder. It costs PKR 1,450 for the whole set. It is ready to ship and delivered within 3 to 4 days anywhere in Pakistan, paid in cash on delivery.

Six round coasters turned from sheesham, each inlaid with small brass stars, standing upright in a turned holder that keeps them together on the table. In the holder they open out like a flower; taken out they are plain, heavy coasters that do not slide when a cup is set down. The brass is inlaid, not printed: every star is cut into the wood and set flush, so it catches the light at an angle and cannot wear off. Coasters and holder are turned on the khraad, the lathe every piece in this workshop starts on, and polished so the sheesham grain shows under the brass. It sits on a tea table, a drawing-room side table or an office desk, and it is one of the easiest things in the shop to give — a wedding, housewarming or Eid gift that gets used the same week. Made in Sillanwali, Sargodha, and worked individually, so the grain and the placing of the stars differ from one coaster to the next. Wipe with a dry cloth, keep them out of standing water, and do not put them in a dishwasher.

Every piece is made by hand, so the wood grain, carving and colour vary a little from the photo. That variation is normal and is what makes each one its own.
