A little variation in size, grain and colour is normal on a hand-turned piece; it isn't a defect.

Is it made in India or Pakistan?

Pakistan — ours is turned in Sillanwali, a woodworking town in Sargodha district, Punjab, on a khraad, the pole lathe the town has used for roughly three hundred years. Search for a wooden foot massager online and almost every result assumes an Indian or generic South Asian origin; Sillanwali's own workshops rarely get named at all, which is part of why we're writing this.

Does rolling your feet over it actually help circulation?

The ridged rollers are shaped to press into the sole and arch as you move your foot, which is the same basic mechanism behind foot-rolling and reflexology tools generally — gentle, repeated pressure that many people find relaxing after a day on their feet. • A minute or two per foot is enough to start; stop if anything feels sharp rather than pushing through it.

How do you clean and look after it?

Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth — the workshop's own guidance is to keep water, polish sprays and other chemical cleaners off the wood, and to keep it away from standing heat such as a radiator. Don't soak it or put it anywhere near a dishwasher; it's finished plainly, not sealed for wet cleaning.
